La rencontre du dimanche 23 juin aura lieu dans le quartier Centre-Sud, donnant une nouvelle occasion d’explorer le patrimoine industriel de Montréal, thème de l’été et d’une prochaine exposition. Les bâtiments d’intérêt abondent: l’usine de confitures Raymond, la biscuiterie David et frère, l’usine de chaussures Eagle Shoe, le poste Berri d’Hydro-Québec, etc. Sans oublier le bain Généreux devenu l’écomusée du Fier monde qui – on s’en souvient – a accueilli l’exposition des Urban Sketchers Montréal à l’automne 2022. Béton brutaliste, brique rouge, brique jaune, inscriptions peintes sur les façades, c’est un véritable répertoire de l’architecture des XIXe et XXe siècles que nous dessinerons.

• 10 h : rencontre au Jardin d’art de la BAnQ (à l’arrière de la bibliothèque) près de la sculpture de Dany Laferrière. Métro Berri, sortie BAnQ
• 12 h : dîner libre, vous pouvez apporter votre lunch ou bien aller manger dans les restaurants du quartier.
• 15 h : venez partager vos dessins au Jardin d’art de la BAnQ (à l’arrière de la bibliothèque)

• Cette activité se déroulera beau temps mauvais temps.

The meeting on Sunday, June 23 will take place in the Centre-Sud district, giving us a new opportunity to explore the industrial heritage of Montreal, the theme for the summer and an upcoming exhibition. Buildings of interest abound: the Raymond jam factory, the David et Frère biscuit factory, the Eagle Shoe factory, the Hydro-Québec Berri substation, etc. Without forgetting the Généreux bath which has become the Écomusée du Fier monde where – we will remember the Urban Sketchers Montréal exhibition was held in the fall of 2022. Brutalist concrete, red brick, yellow brick, painted inscriptions on the facades. This is the broad range of 19th and 20th century architecture that we will draw.

• 10:00 am: meeting at the BAnQ Art Garden (at the back of the library) near the Dany Laferrière sculpture. {Berri metro station, BAnQ exit}. See above map 

• 12:00, noon:  lunch free style, you may bring your lunch or choose one of the neighbouring restaurants.

• 3:00 pm : final meeting where we share our drawings at the BAnQ Art Garden (at the back of the library)
