Sunday Sketching at the Museum: November 23
novembre 13, 2014
We’ve spent many great Sundays at the Musée des Beaux Arts — it’s one of our favourite winter meeting spots — so come along to the Museum on November 23. We’ll meet in the lobby at 10 am, join up again in the café for a lunch break at 12:30 and in between there’s lots to sketch. New this year: an $8 fee for entrance to the permanent collections (and $20 to see the major exhibition). Looking forward to seeing you there.

Hi, Did you know than there is some interesting collections not available: PLEASE NOTE THAT THE MICHAL AND RENATA HORNSTEIN PAVILION (WORLD CULTURES) AND THE LILIANE AND DAVID M. STEWART PAVILION (DECORATIVE ARTS AND DESIGN) ARE CLOSED UNTIL NOVEMBER 30. THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING.
Thank you
Oh no! 😦 Those are the two places I was planning to go.
I’m wondering if the sketching outings are always on Sundays 10 a.m. or are they ever at different times? I go to church on Sunday mornings so I’ve never been able to go. And maybe other potentially interested people also have other conflicting commitments (sports, work, etc.).
It is always Sundays – but some of us do go drawing at other times – I’m sure if you wanted to organize another outing, some people might be into it>? Are you on Facebook? This might be a good place to try and set up an non-sunday outing. : https://www.facebook.com/groups/uskmtl/
Hi Daisy,
Further to what Marc says…
Our Sunday outings last until 4pm. I have seen people arrive at noon and join us just for the afternoon if that is a possibility for you.
I would actually be interested to join and see how these sketching meetings go! I am not too sure of what to bring (and kind of shy as to my work) but it’s really interesting (plus I usually work on sundays but now I should be free)
Hi Vanessa,
We would love to have you come along. We meet every fourth Sunday of the month. Our next outing will be on January 24, although we haven’t finalized the location yet.
As for what to bring, a sketchbook and pen or pencil is a good start. If you have a small set of watercolours that would be great too, but there are lots of people who just draw. I think you will find people very welcoming. We meet at 10 am, stop for lunch around 12:30 so we can look at each other’s drawings and then meet again around 3:30. I don’t always stay all day but I am usually there in the morning. You can also join our Facebook group: Urban Sketchers Montreal. Hope to see you there.
Shari
You don’t need much beyond a pen or pencil and a small sketchbook or blank paper. Come on out and you’ll see what everyone brings! It’ the best way – just see all the different ways people do it 🙂 And nothing to be shy about – we’ll all very casual, nobody is judgmental about the art 🙂
